As a flight test engineer, I define, prepare and conduct the test flights in close cooperation with the test pilot and the engineers. During the test flight, my position is in the telemetry room, where I talk to the test pilot on the radio. Having up to 7 computer screens, I can closely monitor the aircraft's status and provide a second set of eyes to the pilot. For the flight around the world, I work as a flight director directly supporting Raymond, our mission director. During the flight preparation, I try to point out potential risks, problem and challenge our mission team with “difficult questions”. During the flights, I bring my support to Raymond and focus on flight planning in case we have to adjust our routing due to weather or any other constraints.
